307 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday, May 31, 2020. According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC, 188 cases were recorded in Lagos, 44 in FCT, 19 in Ogun, 14 in Kaduna, 12 in Oyo, 9 in Bayelsa, 5 in Gombe, 3 in Kano, 3 in Delta, 2 in Imo, 2 in Rivers, 2 in Niger, 2 in Bauchi, 1 in Plateau, and 1in Kwara state. In total, Nigeria has recorded 10162 cases of COVID-19. 3007 patients have been discharged from various Isolation centers across the country, while 287 deaths have been recorded.

Pastor E.A. Adeboye has reacted to the rape and murder of Uwa Omozuwa in one of the branches of his church, RCCG. Pastor Adeboye, who is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, reacted on Instagram. He wrote: "All I can do at this time is to pray for the family of Omozuwa and do everything possible working with relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators to book. I and members of my Family condemn this act strongly and urge everyone to stay calm as we are already looking into the matter and cooperating with the police to establish the facts of the shocking situation . . #justiceforuwa"

A 36-year-old medical doctor in Jigawa state, Nasir Adam, has died from COVID-19 complications. According to reports, Nasir died at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Birninkudu after battling with acute respiratory disease and was later said to have contracted the novel Coronavirus. Until his death, he was the Medical Officer in the Department of Internal Medicine, Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu in the state. Born in Jos, Plateau State capital in 1984, the deceased doctor had his primary and secondary education in Jos. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in 2012 and did his housemanship in the Federal Medical Center. A police officer has been arrested after opening fire on his colleagues at Onikan, killing some of them today May 31. According to reports, the officer whose name has not been revealed, went berserk around 5am following a disagreement with other members of his team. After opening fire on his colleagues, the officer who is attached to the Federal Inland Revenue Service FIRS, hijacked their operational vehicle and drove straight to Akoka in Yaba where he attempted to force his way into a building. The building had a metallic door and the policeman allegedly opened fire on the property to gain access. No fewer than 30 bullet holes were counted in an apartment, corridor, and ceiling of the premises. Men from the Bariga Police Division and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were alerted and they were able to disarm the officer and take him into custody. It is believed that the officer might not be mentally stable as he was filmed screaming incoherently while firing shots. He was also heard alleging that some persons wanted to corrupt him and that he should be allowed to go home in the name of Jesus. Earlier today, LIB shared the trending story of a 100-level Microbiology student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Uwaila Omozuwa, who was allegedly raped and severely beaten up inside The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Edo Province 10, Ikpoba Hill, Benin, where she had gone to read on Wednesday, May 27. A family source who shared the story online, said Uwaila died on Saturday midnight at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) where she was rushed to after the attack. He said she was attacked with a fire extinguisher by some unknown persons. LIB reached out to the state police command spokesperson, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident but said the police only received a report of ''Assault Occasioning Harm'' and not rape as is being reported online.
Nwabuzor said the father of the girl went to the police station to report the matter but that he never mentioned rape. ''The information I received from the Divisional Police officer in charge of the Ikpoba Hill Division was that the father of the deceased made a complaint and the complaint he made was Assault Occassioning Harm and since he reported the matter, the father had not come back. They took the deceased to the hospital where she gave up the ghost. We have asked the DPO to reach out to the father of the girl who refused to come back to the station after reporting the case at the first instance. I confirm that the incident happened and that the girl was assaulted but that of rape, nobody can testify. There was no one there that can testify that the girl was raped. The girl was in a Coma so they couldn't record a statement from her until she gave up the ghost.The DPO said the father of the girl only reported Assault Ocassioning Harm, that no rape was mentioned because he himself wasn't there and nobody is coming forward to say I witnessed what happened there.So the father's report according to the law is just a hear say testimony. Men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a 19-year-old Olufowoke Oladunjiye Emmanuel, a National Diploma holder of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos for blackmailing veteran singer, Queen Salawa Abeni with her ''nude photos''. 
The police launched an investigation into the matter when the singer came online on April 1 to raise an alarm after she had a chat with the blackmailer who told her that he has her nude photos in his possession and would release them if she fails to pay him some money. Following a detailed investigation, the suspect, Emmanuel who resides at Brentfield Avenue, Peace Estate, Magboro, Ogun State, was arrested by the Decoy Team of Rapid Response Squad last week Thursday after three days of trailing him. The suspect who is a 2017.2018 Electrical Engineering graduate from YABATECH, said he picked up a memory card containing the nude photos of the Waka Queen on the floor in YABATECH in November 2019. After downloading the photos, he decided to contact her after getting her number on the internet. “On 1st of April, 2020, I chatted her up and also called her after sending a few of the photos to her online. My intention was to negotiate with her for few bucks and for me to destroy the photographs.I thought everything was going on fine until the following day when I heard the news of the blackmail over the radio. I was with my mother. She was even cursing the blackmailer unknown to her that I was the brain behind it.I immediately sneaked out, destroyed the memory card and threw my mobile phone and SIM card into a nearby wetland in Magboro. Three hundred and Twelve Indian nationals have been evacuated from Nigeria as a result of the lingering Coronavirus pandemic. The Indians departed the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday morning aboard an Air Peace flight. The 10-hour flight is expected to land at the Cochin International Airport in Kerala later today. According to the High Commission of India in Abuja, two more flights were scheduled for June 13 (Lagos-Delhi) and June 14 (Lagos-Mumbai). A Nigerian doctor, Bright Oris, has shared the heartwarming story of how police officers found a newborn baby girl dumped inside of a dustbin and rushed her to the hospital where he works. According to him, the police officers attached to the Niger state police command, heard the cry of a baby in the dustbin, and traced her. The Bayelsa state Government has confirmed the death of a Coronavirus patient from complications linked to the disease. The Director of Public Health in the state’s ministry of health and member of the state COVID-19 task force committee, Dr Jones Stowe who confirmed the death of the patient said the deceased is one of the two military personnel who were among the new cases announced in the state few days ago. Daily Trust reported that the deceased died after suffering from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and other related complications days after testing positive for Coronavirus. A Nigerian man has narrated how he helped a footballer friend twice even after he stopped talking to him after becoming successful. According to Oluwanishola Akeju Whitehead, he went all out to get the money the footballer needed after being selected to travel to Oslo. He further recalled how his friend stopped picking his call after he tried reaching out to him while still in Norway. Governor Dapo Abiodun has lashed out health workers who are demanding a salary increase amid the Coronavirus pandemic. The Ogun state Governor who described the demand as "irresponsible", stated that he is beginning to think that the demand has a political undertone. They gang also stole more than £50,000 in cash, Cartier bracelets, and rare football shirts worth up to £150,000. 
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said of the raid on Mahrez: 'At around 5pm on Friday April 24, police were called to reports that four separate apartments had been burgled at a city centre block.'
