The Federal Government says it is proposing to spend the sum of N396 billion for the COVID19 vaccination exercise across the country between the years of 2021 and 2022. The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed disclosed this after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting, which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, March 31. Ahmed explained that the figure may significantly reduce as the Federal Government receives more donations of the vaccines from the private sector. She added that the Ministry of Health is working on details of the gap that the Federal Government will be required to fill in the vaccination exercise. She also explains that the size of the proposed supplementary budget agreed by the executive and legislative arm is yet to be resolved, because the Ministry of Defence is yet to provide details of the military hardware requirement. Ahmed had earlier in February said a supplementary budget will be needed to cover the cost of COVID-19 vaccinations, for which no provision was made in the 2021 finance bill adopted in December. Unknown gunmen on Wednesday, March 31 attacked the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)and Anambra governorship aspirant, Prof. Charles Soludo in Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. According to reports, Soludo was having an interactive session with the youths in the community when the gunmen stormed the gathering, shooting sporadically in the air. Three police officers were shot dead while the whereabouts of the former CBN governor is unknown. The state police command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the incident but said that he was still gathering information about the unfortunate incident. Soludo has declared his interest to run for governor of the state come November 6, 2021.

A man, Richard Terrell, 74, from Virginia, US, whose skin turned bright red and peeled off due to an extremely rare reaction to the Covid-19 vaccine has urged people to continue getting the shot regardless. Richard Terrell, was given the Johnson and Johnson vaccine on March 6 and within days developed an itchy rash all over his body. 
When the rashes didn't die down, he was taken to ER and doctors confirmed the skin condition had been caused by the vaccine which had sparked a ‘frenzied’ activation of his immune system. 
Some rashes and skin irritations have been associated with the Covid-19 vaccine. But experts say other vaccines for conditions such as teanus and chickenpox, can also cause a similar reaction. Richard spent five days in hospital and is still recovering his strength but says he has no regrets about getting the vaccine. 
He told WRIC: ‘It all happened so fast. My skin peeled off. It was stinging, burning and itching. ‘Whenever I bent my arms or legs, like the inside of my knee, it was very painful where the skin was swollen and was rubbing against itself.’ On March 6, Terrell received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Ashland. He shares that everything went perfectly fine, however four days later he started experiencing symptoms.“I began to feel a little discomfort in my armpit and then a few days later I began to get an itchy rash, and then after that I began to swell and my skin turned red,” Terrell explained Richard’s doctor, Fnu Nutan, said she suspected that her patient may have some rare genetic traits that interacted with some of the vaccine ingredients and triggered the painful reaction. Despite this Terrell and Dr. Nutan are still encouraging people to get vaccinated and monitor their response.Nutan said: ‘If you look at the risk for adverse reaction for the vaccine it’s really, really low. Clergyman, Reverend Father Anthony Dawah of the Catholic church in Kaduna, has been kidnapped by gunmen. According to reports, Father Dawah was abducted on Tuesday, March 30. Confirming his abduction, the Director of communication of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, Reverend Father Stephen Onyema, said Father Dawah was abducted at Dogon Kurmi village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state. Father Dawah was reportedly abducted alongside the wife and child of the catechist and domestic staff of the church. This abduction comes barely a week after eight members of the Redeemed Church were kidnapped in Kaduna state. The Mumbai zonal unit of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a Nigerian National with mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 20 lakh (10,375,087.21) The accused identified as Kenneth Ezi was arrested from semi-forest area in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai on Sunday, March 28. According to a press release issued on Tuesday, March 30, by NCB Mumbai on its continuous operations against drug suppliers and peddlers, the officials acting on specific information conducted searches at semi-forest area near sector 32 of Kharghar on Sunday and intercepted the Nigerian national. "NCB Mumbai searched the semi-forest area near Sector 32, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, and intercepted the accused after chasing him approx two kilometres by foot. During a personal search of Ezi, 200 grams of Mephedrone was found in his possession. NCB Mumbai registered the case in crime No 29/2021." the press release stated. Arsenal and Uruguay midfielder, Lucas Torreira's mother, Viviana Di Pascua, has died following a battle with Covid-19. Torreira's 53-year-old mother was recently admitted to intensive care after contracting the virus in Uruguay.

More than 30 million Americans have fallen ill and more than 550,000 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.However, the WHO's new report raises more questions about the body's relationship with China as alleged by the past Donald Trump Administration, who cut off funding to the health body in 2020 citing a 'cover up' between the WHO and China The 120-page WHO report, released Tuesday March 30, says a scenario where the virus spread via an intermediate animal host, possibly a wild animal captured and then raised on a farm, is "very likely." The investigation has not found what other animal was infected by a bat -- considered the most likely original source of the virus -- and then may have transmitted it to a human.According to the report, another possible-to-likely scenario is direct transmission from one of the animals known to carry a similar coronavirus, such as a bat or a pangolin.Two other scenarios were considered unlikely. The New York State Police has charged a 7 year old boy with rape.The unidentified child, from Brasher Falls near the US-Canada border, was charged with third-degree rape on March 23.Authorities said the incident was first reported on November 26 2020.The little boy has been released and will be tried as a juvenile delinquent according to reports.Under current state law, the minimum age of criminal prosecution is 7 .The incident reportedly occured on Thanksgiving in upstate New York.No further details have been released about the incident .The case will be handled in Family Court, according to the police.It is also not clear what relation, if any, the suspect and the victim are to one another. Anthony Martone, a Queens attorney who handles youth defense cases slammed authorities as 'absurd' for bringing the charges against the 7-year-old and said he believes it is almost an 'impossibility' that they will stick. Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar has shared his own side of the story following the altercation he was involved in with a security guard at Banex Plaza in Abuja. In a statement released by CCT Chairman's spokesperson Ibraheem Al-Hassan, he alleged that the security man was rude and had threatened him over a parking space after being unable to explain why he shouldn't park at the spot. It read; "The altercations started over a parking lot which chairman met vacant, and it was directly opposite a shop where he wanted to make a purchase and to fix his phone. “When the young security guard sighted him, he ordered that the chairman should not park his car in that particular space.“The boy was rude in his approach and threatened to deal with chairman if he refused to leave the scene.“Again, if the chairman had gone there to cause trouble or intimidate someone, as suggested, he would have gone there in his full official paraphernalia. But he went there alone with his younger brother. “The policemen seen in the video clip were not the chairman’s police team. They were policemen operating around the plaza, who at first instance intervened before the arrival of the police team from Maitama police station.” It was further alleged that the CCT Chairman sustained a deep cut and dislocation in one of his fingers after the mob began throwing objects at his car. The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Yusuf Jibrilla, for stabbing two youths, killing one. It was gathered that the victims, Sadiq Hammadandi, 22, and Adamu Suleiman, 25, were sitting outside the venue of the party when the suspect, said to be a drug addict, joined them to smoke his weed. Justice Simeon Amadi, the second most senior judge of River state High Court has been confirmed as the state's Chief Judge by the house of assembly. A Knife-wielding woman was arrested near Canadian rapper Drake's mansion in Toronto after she allegedly “struck a security guard with a pipe.” while he was home. The 60-day ultimatum served to the FG by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), to press home its demands, expires today, March 31, 2021. The doctors have scheduled a nationwide strike to begin tomorrow, April 1. The doctors listed four demands that must be met by the Federal Government to shelve their planned action. NARD President Dr. Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi confirmed slated meetings with Labour and Employment Minister Dr. Chris Ngige and the Senate Committee on Health. 
The conditions listed by the doctors are: full payment of salaries of all House Officers and Residents on the GIFMIS platform; upward review of hazard allowance from N5, 000 to 50 per cent of consolidated basic salaries of all health workers and the immediate payment of 2019, balance of 2020 and 2021 Medical Residency Training Funds (MRTF). Confirming the moves by stakeholders to avert the strike, he said: "I was called by the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, and we will have a meeting with him tomorrow (today) by 3pm. I was in a meeting with the House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Chairman Tanko Sununu on Monday. "We will also have a meeting with the Senate Committee on Health Wednesday by 11am. We look forward to seeing them and we are hopeful that we can get some of our demands." A Federal High Court in Lagos State has barred the Federal Government from blocking SIM cards not linked to National Identity Numbers (NIN), come April. The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy had, through the Nigerian Communications Commission, asked operators to block all SIM cards not linked to NIN by April 9, 2021. This resulted in people disregarding Covid-19 protocols as they trooped to offices of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to get registered. However, a former second National Vice-President of the Nigerian Bar Association and human rights lawyer, Mr Monday Ubani, filed an originating motion and asked the court to stop the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) from disconnecting all SIM Cards not linked to NINs, Punch reports. The first to fourth defendants in the suit are the Federal Government, Attorney General of the Federation, The NCC and the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy. Ubani sought four reliefs including an order that the two-week ultimatum is inadequate and will not only cause him hardship but will also infringe on his fundamental right to freedom of speech and right to own property as provided under sections 39(1) and 44(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). He also sought an order of the court extending the deadline. Delivering judgment on March 23, 2021, Justice M.A Onyetenu, ordered that the deadline be extended by two months from the day of the judgement. The court ruled that the ultimatum of April 9, 2021, be halted as the timeline is grossly inadequate and will not only cause severe hardship, but will likely infringe on the fundamental rights of Nigerians to freedom of expression as guaranteed by Section 39(1)(2) and Section 44(1) of the 1999 Constitution. The judge further declared that in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising cases in Nigeria presently, the deadline given to over 200 million Nigerians to register their SIM cards with NIN, will lead to a rush, thereby resulting in clustering of Nigerian citizens in a NIN registration centre, subjecting them to the possibility of easily contracting COVID-19. The judgment read in part, “I therefore make the following orders: An order halting the deadline ultimatum of 9/4/21 given by the 1st (Federal Government) 3rd (NCC) and 4th (Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy) respondents to block all SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identity Numbers at the expiration of deadline. “An order directing the 1st, 3rd and 4th respondents to extend the deadline for the registration of SIM cards with NIN for at least another two months from the date of this judgment.” In a letter addressed to the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the plaintiff asked him to direct the relevant agencies to comply with the court judgment. In the letter titled, ‘Notification to comply with judgment in FHC/L/CS/1834/2020’, Ubani asked the AGF to prevail on the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, to reconsider the deadline. The letter read in part, “I therefore urge you to use your good offices to advise the Minister for Communications and Digital Economy, to respect our judiciary by complying with the above stated orders of the court. I further appeal to you to advise the honourable minister to review his stand on the ultimatum for the registration of SIM Cards with NIN beyond the duration declared by the honourable court to at least a year.”The post 
President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in London,United Kingdom where he is to undergo a routine medical check-up. Presidential spokeperson, Bashir Ahmad shared a video of the president disembarking the airplane on Tuesday, March 31, as he arrived London. The president is expected back in the country in the second week of April. Before his departure, Buhari met with the service chiefs and ordered them to identify leaders of bandits and kidnappers and take them out to restore confidence and normalcy in the affected areas. Kate Middleton's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, has spoken out about Meghan Markle claiming Kate Middleton made her cry during a bridesmaid fitting ahead of her wedding. Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, he said: "I’ve known Kate since she was born and she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. It’s just simply not in her nature. "She’s even lovelier on the inside than on the outside. If anyone had a hissy fit, it must have been Meghan." He continued: "Kate would have been trying to make the peace. I would fight for Kate’s honor until the day I die. She is the most spectacular person I’ve ever met." Kate's uncle was not in the room at the time the altercation happened. Though Kate hasn’t spoken out about the incident publicly, royal reporter Katie Nicholl told OK! magazine that Kate felt it "was all sorted, so to have it brought up again was mortifying." Veteran actress, Patience Ozokwor has narrated how she got married at a young age. The actress who sat for an interview with Bolanle Olukanni which aired on Channels Television, said she was married off at a young age by her parents after being told she can't wait for the person she loved. Ozokwor who described the experience as horrible, said she endured because she didn't want to disappoint her father who loved her so much. The actress noted that she comes from a polygamous family in which one does not leave their marriage, and from a Christian background in which divorce is not an option. She also revealed that she looked for ways to take care of her children after discovering that her husband had a terminal disease. Ozokwor also recounted how her husband who woke from coma, expressed surprise of her still sticking with him in spite of his sickness.
