Ex-presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba, is currently trending on Nigerian Twitter after he likened Bandits to Niger Delta militants. Adamu said this when he appeared AIT to discuss insecurity and banditry in Nigeria. He opined that Bandits and Boko Haram members should be deradicalized and also trained further like the Federal government did to Niger Delta militants under the amnesty program.''Deradicalisation that is done to this Boko Haram isn't enough. You can't deradicalise me by speaking to me or bringing a preacher. I need to have some sense of responsibility on myself and my wellbeing. What happened in the Niger Delta case is that they were not just inetrgrated into the community, they were trained, some of them became pilots, engineers'' When asked if Bandits should also be trained, Adamu opined;'' What Niger Delta did was it not killing and criminality too? Was it not kidnapping and bombing too? It is? What we need to do is to train them and give them a sense of responsibility'' His comment comes a day after he tweeted that Shekau is the same person as Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has dismissed reports that there will be an increment in the ex-depot price of petrol in March, 2021. A press release by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr. Kennie Obateru, stated that the Corporation was not contemplating any raise in the price of petrol in March in order not to jeopardize ongoing engagements with organized labour and other stakeholders on an acceptable framework that will not expose the ordinary Nigerian to any hardship. Obateru in the statement cautioned petroleum products marketers not to engage in an arbitrary price increase or hoarding of petrol in order not to create artificial scarcity and unnecessary hardship for Nigerians. The Corporation further stated that it has enough stock of petrol to keep the nation well supplied for over 40 days and urged motorists to avoid panic buying. It further called on relevant regulatory authorities to step up monitoring of the activities of marketers with a view to sanctioning those involved in products hoarding or arbitrary increase of pump price.The post 
The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC says 240 new cases of COVID19 have were recorded in Nigeria on Sunday, February 28. Accoridng to the statistics released by the agency, Anambra had 85 fresh cases while Lagos recorded 82 fresh cases. Other states with fresh cases include Osun-17, Ogun-10, Kwara-9, FCT-8, Kano-7, Abia-6, Borno-4, Edo-2, Bayelsa-2, Kaduna-2 and Rivers-1. Nigeria now has 155,657 confirmed cases. 133,768 patients have been successfully treated and discharged while 1,907 deaths have so far been recorded. Myanmar's military fired on protesters on Sunday, February 28, killing at least 18, the deadliest day since the anti-coup protests started this month.According to the UN human rights office, deaths were reported in several cities including Yangon, Dawei and Mandalay as law enforcement used live rounds and tear gas on unarmed protesters. 
Ever since the country's leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other cabinet members were overthrown and detained by the military on February 1, there have been constant protests by the people, and LIB reported last week how hundreds of thousands including government workers gathered on on the streets last week to protest against the military. However, on Sunday, social media footage showed protesters running away as security forces carrying live ammunition charged at them, and several people were carried away covered in blood. 
The police crackdown which started on Saturday was expanded on Sunday as coup leaders attempt to end protests by civilians asking for release of their duly elected leaders.According to reports despite the gunshots, civilians didn't seem deterred and had set up road blocks and home made shields in an attempt to take on the security forces.
As the tension increased, many more protesters arrived, sitting down on the road and chanting. The United Nations Human Rights Office condemned the violence against protesters, saying it had "credible information" that at least 18 people had been killed on Sunday. More than 30 others have been injured. "The people of Myanmar have the right to assemble peacefully and demand the restoration of democracy," spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said. "Use of lethal force against non-violent demonstrators is never justifiable under international human rights norms."According to local reports, at least four people had been killed in the largest city, Yangon, as police fired bullets, stun grenades and tear gas.The protesters remained defiant. "If they push us, we'll rise. If they attack us, we'll defend. We'll never kneel down to the military boots," Nyan Win Shein told Reuters. Another protester, Amy Kyaw, told AFP: "Police started shooting just as we arrived. They didn't say a word of warning. Some got injured and some teachers are still hiding in neighbours' houses." 
In the south-eastern city of Dawei, security forces moved to break up a rally. There are also reports of live rounds being used in that city with four reportedly killed. In another large rally in Mandalay, police used water cannon and fired into the air killing one person. The UN said deaths had also been reported in Myeik, Bago and Pokokku. 
The number of arrests since the protests began has not been confirmed. The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners monitoring group has put the figure at 850, but hundreds more appear to have been detained this weekend. Aung San Suu Kyi, Myanmar's civilian leader has not been seen in public since she was arrested and detained by the military junta in the capital Nay Pyi Taw . The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately order the military to rescue Pastor Bulud Yakuru from the Boko Haram terrorists who had given him a one week ultimatum before it is too late. LIB reported earlier that the Abubakar Shekau-led faction of Boko Haram which kidnapped Pastor Yakuru on December 24, 2020 after an attack at Pemi Village in Borno State, gave the federal government a one week ultimatum to negotiate his release, and this one week ultimatum will end on Wednesday March 3. The Christian group in a statement issued by its President, Samson Ayokunle on Saturday February 27, said Buhari has no excuse not to act decisively and rescue Pastor Yakuru if Trump could order the military to secure the release of one kidnapped American citizen in Nigeria. CAN also described the freedom of Pastor Yakuru as a litmus test for the new Service Chiefs. The statement read; “The leadership of CAN believes that the freedom of Pastor Yakuru is a litmus test for the new Service Chiefs and the whole world is watching whether they will live up to the expectations of or not.“If the then American President, Donald Trump could put his acts together from far away America and ordered his military to rescue one kidnapped American in Nigeria, then our President has no excuse or whatsoever not to act decisively and rescue Pastor Yakuru.“Why should the government leave the citizens of this country at the mercy of insurgents, bandits and kidnappers? Dozens of travelers, including a young man and his two relatives were abducted in separate attacks launched by suspected Boko Haram insurgents along the Maiduguri/Damaturu highway. It was gathered that the insurgents ambushed commercial vehicles plying the highway on Friday afternoon, February 26 and forced many passengers into the forests. The abductions took place between Mainok and Jakana axis in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, around 3:30 pm. One Wadzani Waxax said that his younger brother identified as Ijey as well as two relatives were among the travelers abducted during the attack. A newly-wed bride and all the passengers in three vehicles, who accompanied her to Damaturu were also kidnapped by the insurgents. According to a family source, only an elderly woman was left with instructions that the others have been kidnapped by the insurgents.
