Jay-Z issues a statement regarding George Floyd's death after calling Minnesota Governor to demand Justice

Jay-Z has issued a statement regarding George Floyd's death after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz revealed that the rapper called him to demand that all officers involved in his murder face justice.  In the statement issued via Roc Nation’s official twitter account, JAY-Z thanked Governor Walz for bringing Attorney General Keith Ellison in to take over the George Floyd case, and urged politicians to “do the right thing and prosecute all those responsible for the murder of George Floyd to the fullest extent of the law.”  He added: “I prevail on every politician, prosecutor, and officer in the country to have the courage to do what is right. Have the courage to look at us as humans, dads, brothers, sisters, and mothers in pain. And look at yourselves.” JAY-Z also spoke about his “very earnest conversation” with Governor Walz. .@GovTimWalz #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd pic.twitter.com/lkM2NdrIZF— Roc Nation (@RocNation) June 1, 2020“Earlier today, Governor Walz mentioned having a human conversation with me—a dad and a black man in pain,” he wrote. “Yes, I am human, a father and a black man in pain and I am not the only one. This is just a first step. I am more determined to fight for justice than any fight my would-be oppressors may have.” During his press conference, Governor Walz said the rapper came to him not as an “international performer, but dad, stressing to me that justice needs to be served.” He went on to say: “It was so incredibly human,” Walz said. “It was a dad—and I think quite honestly a black man whose visceral pain of this that he knew. His words summarized that justice needs to be served here.” “He said he feels the compassion and the humanity of these folks who are speaking,” Walz said. “He knows the world is watching, and how Minnesota handles this is going to have an impact across the country. It’s a positive sign that someone of a stature, that has a presence like that, is focused in the moment of what Minnesotas are focused on.” The post Jay-Z issues a statement regarding George Floyd's death after calling Minnesota Governor to demand Justice appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

#JusticeforUWA: Her father did not report rape to the police, it was only Assault Occassioning Harm - Edo Police spokesperson tells LIB

Earlier today, LIB shared the trending story of a 100-level Microbiology student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Uwaila Omozuwa, who was allegedly raped and severely beaten up inside The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Edo Province 10, Ikpoba Hill, Benin, where she had gone to read on Wednesday, May 27. A family source who shared the story online, said Uwaila died on Saturday midnight at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) where she was rushed to after the attack. He said she was attacked with a fire extinguisher by some unknown persons. LIB reached out to the state police command spokesperson, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident but said the police only received a report of ''Assault Occasioning Harm'' and not rape as is being reported online.ImageNwabuzor said the father of the girl went to the police station to report the matter but that he never mentioned rape. ''The information I received from the Divisional Police officer in charge of the Ikpoba Hill Division was that the father of the deceased made a complaint and the complaint he made was Assault Occassioning Harm and since he reported the matter, the father had not come back. They took the deceased to the hospital where she gave up the ghost. We have asked the DPO to reach out to the father of the girl who refused to come back to the station after reporting the case at the first instance. I confirm that the incident happened and that the girl was assaulted but that of rape, nobody can testify. There was no one there that can testify that the girl was raped. The girl was in a Coma so they couldn't record a statement from her until she gave up the ghost. The DPO said the father of the girl only reported Assault Ocassioning Harm, that no rape was mentioned because he himself wasn't there and nobody is coming forward to say I witnessed what happened there. So the father's report according to the law is just a hear say testimony. He wasn't there'' the police spokesperson said  Nwabuzor said the police is currently carrying out an investigation into the matter to determine what truly happened. The post #JusticeforUWA: Her father did not report rape to the police, it was only Assault Occassioning Harm - Edo Police spokesperson tells LIB appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
