This is a sponsored post... I walked into my apartment, and I could feel the cool evening breeze softly caress my tired skin. As I planned to retire for the night, a call came in, and lo and behold it was my neighbor at the complex where I rent my warehouse - "You don go far? Begin come, them say tanker don explode". I couldn't believe my ears- "What? No, it can't be". I sprang up and ran back to the complex to see what was going on, and truth be told, the entire complex was on fire. From where I was standing, I saw things falling apart, and the center could not hold it.Everyone was in disarray as all attempts by few Samaritans to put out the fire proved abortive while the National Fire Service was nowhere in sight. We gazed hopelessly as the raging fire scorched our dreams, investments, and future, while from all spheres, cries of mixed emotions filled the air.The ceremony of innocence drowned; all conviction that help would come in times of distress completely flushed out of my mind. How do I pay for my children's school fees? How do I open the shop I promised for my stay-at-home wife? No, I cannot do this. Depression slowly slipped in.Months strolled by lethargically. My wife had resumed the role of the breadwinner, and trust me; we began to live like church rats. After twelve attempts to take my life, my friend Chijioke invited me for a career summit at his church. I was extremely reluctant, but my wife encouraged me to go and even picked up a fight when I refused. Finally, I resentfully surrendered to attending.Amazingly, it was a power-packed summit. The church had gone out of its way to invite some Canadian companies who, after some sessions, sold me on the reasons why the economic and socio-cultural developments of Canada made it one of the best places to be. Ha! A glimpse of hope, I thought to myself, 'Jude, you cannot miss out on this opportunity o'. The only problem was I had a tiny idea of the Canadian application process, and besides, I did not have money to get started. Borrowing money for this task would be quite awkward, Taofeek had been duped by one so-called travel agency, so I was not cut out for all that.Chijioke visited me a month later, and he spent so much time on the phone talking to a lady. I kept hearing terms like; express entry profile, IELTS test result, and invitation to apply, My God, what is going on here? I try not to make him know I had been eavesdropping on his conversation. After he got off the phone, I mustered courage and ask who he had been talking to, and he says it was his immigration case manager at Pals Concierge. He explained that after the church summit, he had surfed the internet and found Pals Concierge Canada immigration company - the best in the game.Ha! it was a wake-up call o, He gave me their website where I filled their online assessment form to ascertain my eligibility, and I got feedback that I was eligible! Everything seemed right, yet I was still skeptical. Wise me, I thought to myself, 'let him show evidence of success that I will also engage them.' Surprisingly, he came back after two months to say he and his family were relocating to Canada in two weeks. He showed me his Canada PR visa and tickets, my jaw dropped. I was happy for him, but I couldn't but be wishing the same for my family and I. I saw him off to the airport, bade him and his family fair-well. I walked back the departure path with raging emotions, and I called the lady that had been speaking with me at Pals Concierge. I booked an appointment for a meeting in their office the next day. It was after the called I realized that time had far gone that night, but she was still cordial. Just imagine thoughts in my head as I rode in the bus home.
