Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi took to Twitter to narrate her experience at a hospital while reacting to a conversation about hospitals asking for a deposit before administering treatment. The media personality appears to be of the opinion that the main focus should be on treating patients first, not on money. She tweeted: "You go to a hospital in pain and while receiving treatment - they bring the bill for registration . Damn! Can you chill ? They want to admit you and ask you to drop 150k deposit . Kilode ??? She added: "I remember being admitted at a hospital last year, while they were setting the drip (I.V) , they brought the P.O.S into the room and asked for a 200k deposit. I was in a lot of pain and bleeding." There has been a conversation among Twitter users about health insurance in Nigeria and how effective it is. A health practitioner claimed that most HMOs pay hospitals only a tiny fraction of the cost of treating their patients. As a result, some hospitals have been running at a loss and have resorted to asking patients to make a deposit first before treatment is received. Some Twitter users agreed that hospitals are well within their rights to ask for a deposit before treatment. However, some Twitter users think that money should not be mentioned when a patient is in obvious pain. The post Media personality Gbemi narrates her experience at a hospital as she reacts to a conversation about demanding deposit before giving treatment appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
